SLEEK STEPS SQUARES

A very modern kitchen extension with bi-fold doors al round had left this family with no access to their (rather derelict) garden; the doors were almost a metre higher than the ground level. A complete redesign was needed and eventually only one tree and one climbing rose was left of the original garden.

The black & white of the render and windows as well as the shape of the house were reflected in this design. A generous space level with the interior was provided with wide steps to draw you down to the main terrace, the whole area surrounded and divided with simple, stepped raised square planters and bordered with more
steps to allow total access to all other area of the garden. Black bricks at the side provide a great contrast of colour and texture.

At the rear, metal estate fencing allowed views through to the playing fields beyond, eventually to be covered with the climbing rose, pruned to suit the level of privacy required.
