The materials used in this Putney garden are hardwearing for a small space which is likely to be well used by children in the daytime but still needs a more tranquil atmosphere for the grown-ups from time to time.
Porcelain paving surrounds the artificial grass, which is laid on a recycled rubber cushioning pad, ensuring that there will be no mud walked through the house. The deck and benches are constructed from Millboard composite deck boards, which dry off quickly after rain. The screens are of cedar battens fixed to all new posts.
There is an LED lighting strip set back under the overhang of the retaining walls, giving a sleek light cast across the surface of the grass. Lush planting is vital in this garden to bring it to life.

John made some good suggestions to improve on what we were trying to achieve. His team was excellent and worked extremely hard to finish the job. We were very pleased with the end result of a curved brick mowing strip, a brick wall and a relaid lawn. We would have no hesitation to use them again for our next project.
