CURVACIOUS STEPS

A new extension to this large detached house prompted the owners to redesign their well-established garden. With four doorways now connecting the open plan interior, it was important to provide plenty of usable open terrace at the same level as the inside, while still giving plenty of space for planting so that the paving was not left overly barren.
The geometry behind the design is deceptively simple – four circles combined to give one flowing line incorporating the edge of the paving and the steps. This line is accentuated by repeating it in the curve of the bull-nosed step, coping edges and lawn edge.
All of the stone for this project was cut, shaped and bull nosed by us on site.
