GARDEN DESIGN PUTNEY
The brief for this small garden was to create a usable space for both daytime kids football and evening adult relaxing & entertaining; a contemporary feel with simple, clean lines. The layout maximises useable space while still leaving enough room for plenty of plants, ensuring that it is a garden, not a yard.
There was only one thing to be kept in the garden, that was an old grape vine, half way down on the left. This was a challenge; to create support for this climber to grow over and to keep the soil it had been in for decades untouched so it would flourish.
This was acheived with the bench / pergola arrangement, which allowed the original shape of the vine trunk to wrap around the bench and onto the frame.
A further corner bench, gives one more feature to offset the formality. The edge lighting strip and wall lights add that touch of luxury for the summer evenings.
