REAR GARDEN
There were three things to remain in this medium sized garden – the shed at the rear and two large trees, everything else could change. The clients’ list of requirements was simple large lawn, privacy, curves, shaded paved area at the rear, small terraceadjacent to the rear doors and plenty of planting.
Using the apple tree as the centre point, a large segment of a circle describes the mowing edge of the lawn, the rear step behind and the planting bed at the rear. This is cut by a wide, black brick path, centred on the Horse Chestnut tree at the rear, which is surrounded by a small feature deck, completing the geometrical play.
The black stained pergola oversails the shed at the rear to ensure full shading. A Wisteria will soon scramble over the structure to fill the space beneath with colour and scent
